The 2023-24 NBA season hasn't been as smooth for the LA Lakers as many believed after the offseason moves they were able to pull off. It was looking to be a big improvement from where they were last year, but after 45 games they are .489 with a 22-23 record in the 9th seed in the Western Conference.

While Darvin Ham's coaching has left a lot to be desired, the scapegoat of the season has been D'Angelo Russell and reports have him about to be traded, despite having some impressive performances since returning to the starting lineup.

Ahead of tonight's game, the Lakers legend James Worthy spoke on the positives in the last game for LA in the loss to the Clippers and D'Angelo Russell was the standout speaking specifically on the ability of the PGs to affect the game.

D'Lo has been averaging 27.2 PPG in his last six games, still, the rumors haven't stopped in the front office led by GM Rob Pelinka wanting to make a trade with him for the Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray.

The Lakers are getting closer to trading for Hawks guard Dejounte Murray

This intel comes in light of a report from The Athletic’s Sam Amick that the Lakers have inched closer to making a trade for the 27-year-old. Murray has arguably been the second-best player on the Hawks so far during the 2023-24 regular season, behind only Trae Young. He has yet to sit out a game for Atlanta this season and is averaging 21.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from deep.
