Darvin finally listened, Prince came off the bench and opened up about new role

The Lakers finally had a starting lineup without Taurean Prince this season and it worked

Taurean Prince and Darvin Ham

Taurean Prince has been a valuable player for the LA Lakers, but it has been evident he isn't a starter-caliber player for the team and should be coming off the bench where he is more valuable and set to make a bigger difference.

Darvin Ham has been called out by the Lakers fans for not using last season's best-starting lineup of D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, Jarred Vanderbilt and Anthony Davis, instead, LA's head coach has been using Taurean Prince instead of Vando.

Now that finally Ham decides to bench Taurean Prince, Jarred Vanderbilt isn't available anymore as he is set to miss multiple games due to an injury and even has the risk of needing a season-ending injury.

Instead of starting, Prince now had a coming-off-the-bench role and has been honest about this new role and how it helped him to give one of his best performances with the team in the season. Taurean Prince said playing with the second unit allowed him to be more aggressive but at the end of the day, his job didn't change. Prince in 33 minutes of playtime scored 16 minutes and got one block.

The Lakers are looking to increase their winning streak

Lakers fans should be rooting for the team to finish the 2023-24 regular season strong and make the playoffs, like the squad did a season ago. If the Lakers continue to hover around the .500 mark for the remainder of the season, it likely won’t bode well for the franchise’s chances of keeping James around beyond this season.
