While most of the talks surrounding the Lakers at this moment are rumors and possible trade targets, coach Darvin Ham has decided to send Jalen Hood-Schifino to the G-League so the rookie can get some playing time and start developing.

With the most recent 2-way signing of the point guard Skylar Mays, Jalen Hood-Schifino is set to have less time on the court for the purple and gold. It happens that the main responsible for JHS not having too many playing minutes is Gabe Vincent.

The Lakers have a young promise in the shape of Jalen Hood-shifting but the stood with the team for a long time before going to the G-League. Ham revealed that not being sent to the South Bay Lakers was because of Gabe Vincen't's injury.

All of this stems back to the injury suffered by Gabe Vincent that has limited him to five games this season. “That’s exactly the reason,” Ham said when asked if Vincent’s injury hadn’t allowed Hood-Schifino to get G League reps.

Darvin Ham spoke about Jalen Hood-Schifino's situation

“So it’s like, when you have one of your point guards that you were expecting to be a huge part of the rotation and he’s been limited due to injury, and that’s NBA circumstances, it forces you to adjust and pivot to other scenarios. That’s definitely it. Jalen is a young guy, only played one year of college and coming into the league, definitely needs those reps that South Bay will provide. But it was difficult because of only having DLo and just one true point guard outside of obviously Bron can play point guard." Said Ham.
