One of the standouts in the 2023-24 NBA season for the LA Lakers has been the great level, consistency, and health that LeBron James and Anthony Davis have displayed during most of the campaign. AD has shown he is the best defensive player in the league and even should be considered a serious contender for the MVP award.

In recent days, Anthony Davis said he feels that he should've won at least a couple of individual awards by now but he isn't obsessed about it for this season and he is just focused on winning as many games as the team can and contending for the NBA title.

The NBA media narrative and the league have snubbed Anthony Davis as a serious contender in the past because of his injury record, and even when this campaign the Lakers superstar has only missed four games out of 55, he continues to be 'disrespected' as he ranks 10th in the most recent NBA.com's updated MVP Ladder:

1. Nikola Jokic

2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

3. Giannis Antetokounmpo

4. Luka Doncic

5. Jayson Tatum

6. Kawhi Leonard / Domantas Sabonis

8. Donovan Mitchell

9. Kevin Durant

10. Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis believes the Lakers have finally established their identity

“Yeah. Not what we can be, but just who we are. It’s game whatever and we got to have an identity. We’re starting to establish that, we’re gonna be a fast-paced team. A team that likes to get into the paint and get to the line, but also be tenacious on the defensive end. So we’re creating an identity for what we have to be moving forward. We can’t be coming out the All-Star break and alright, what type of team are we? Or this is who we have to be and all that. This is who we are. And we got to make sure that how we’re playing as of late, the past two, three, four weeks, keeping the identity and carrying it over post All-Star.”Said Anthony Davis.
