The biggest story to follow for the LA Lakers in the next offseason is whether LeBron James and the front office will get a deal done to continue their partnership ahead of the next season and beyond.
Jeanie Buss, the Lakers owner and governor has been vocal on wanting the superstar to retire as a purple and gold star, while LeBron recently has also expressed his sentiment on wanting to retire from playing in Los Angeles.
Things could change as it has been reported that LeBron is pushing for a multi-year new contract that will increase his salary per year to potentially about 60 million dollars and could end when the player is 42 years old.
Amid all this talk, the former Lakers player Metta World Peace gave his thoughts about it saying he can't see LeBron retiring anywhere else. "I think LeBron retires a Laker... He's still playing at a high level, I can't see him leaving."
Not only last season LeBron James became the new scoring leader of all time, breaking the former record set by the Lakers showtime era legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but he is also getting closer to becoming the first player in the league to score 40,000 points. James has broken all kinds of records and will continue to do so as he is currently in his year 21 and with this potential new deal will go beyond it.
