Things haven't worked for the team ever since the group was able to win the In-Season Tournament, between injuries, excuses from Darvin Ham, and extreme rotation with a lack of continuity from starting lineups, the situation is far from ideal.
The Lakers' loss to the Miami Heat now has the team with a losing record of 17-18 after looking like a serious contending team they need just a couple of adjustments to now be a complete mess with players unhappy with their coach and the work he is putting up.
According to The Athletic's NBA insiders Shams Charania and Jovan Buha: "There's a 'deepening disconnect' between Darvin Ham and Lakers locker room stemming from extreme rotation and starting lineup adjustments."
Ham hasn't been able to find the right starting lineup, and his stubbornness on not using what worked in the last season and lack of in-game adjustments plus bad timing on calling time-outs before a double-digit run against the team are just some of the struggles the team is facing, plus the lack of energy and chemistry between the players and coaching staff. If the team continues on this path, the front office could consider replacing coach Darvin Ham.
Austin Reaves on the vibe in the Lakers locker room after the loss to Miami: "Shitty, we're losing. Any time you lose the vibe should be off. If we go in there and the vibe wasn't off, then I'd be concerned. I don't expect for us to be happy with how we've played."
