The Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has been trying to adjust the team despite recently becoming the first Champions of the In-Season Tournament and looking like a strong team with only minor adjustments needed, but suddenly, the group looks disjointed and life-less on the floor with zero idea and with a starting lineup that just doesn't work.

Darvin has sent two of his best playmakers to the bench, and now that D'Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves aren't part of LA's starting five, the team doesn't have a natural guard on the point guard role, but LeBron James has been playing in that position.

ESPN's Kendrick Perkins believes that won't be working for long and completely loathes the idea of LeBron as the Lakers PG. “LeBron James playing the point guard, that’s not gonna be sustainable,” Perkins said. “… D’Angelo [Russell] gotta find it within to pick up the pace. They play too slowly. No easy baskets for Bron or A.D. (Anthony Davis). And that’s why they miss a guy like Dennis Schroder. We forget what he brought to the table on both ends of the floor. But those guys just gotta play, man. They gotta elevate their game.”

With Russell not performing up to par before becoming sidelined with an injury, the job of running the offense has fallen to James. The 39-year-old is certainly capable of doing so, but it likely isn’t optimal over the long haul, as Perkins pointed out. With this lineup, the Lakers now are back to the .500 and have a 17-17 record.

Kendrick Perkins calls out Darvin Ham after the recent poor performances by LA

"With his rotations, with his set-calling, with everything across the board. The way he staggers Bron and AD minutes. All across the board, Darvin Ham got to elevate his game," said Perkins on the job that Ham has been doing lately with the team.
