One of the apparent biggest reasons the Los Angeles Lakers haven't been able to find their right foot is the coaching staff, more specifically the work that coach Darvin Ham is putting in, as a disconnect between the locker room and him is apparent.
One of the biggest disagreements the locker room and Darvin Ham have is the use of its players, between the team rotation and starting lineups, the chemistry hasn't been developed as expected and some underperformances have shown as a consequence.
The team's defensive game has significantly dipped and several players have come out and said that is coaching decisions and been vocal on not knowing their role, now Jarred Vanderbilt has given a shot at Ham on not playing him from the start to help with the defensive end.
In Vando’s mind, the Lakers’ issue is that they are not starting games with a locked-in defensive mindset, perhaps a signal to the coaching staff that he feels he should return to that starting lineup.
“We just got to lock in on both ends for 48 minutes. I think we should be a defensive-minded team to start the game. I think our defense should ignite our offense. Let’s get stops, let’s get steals, let’s get out in transition, getting open looks. So I think our prime attention needs to be on that end of the floor. We got a lot of guys that can score the ball and put the ball in the basket, so I think we need to hang our hats on the defensive end," said Vanderbilt.
