The NBA 2023-24 season for the Los Angeles Lakers was promised to be different after the different moves made by the front office in the off-season by bringing the team's main core from last season back plus different signings to have a deep roster, but the campaign hasn't been smooth as expected as the team currently stands in the 7th seed in the Western Conference.
Since the team won the In-Season Tournament, the group hasn't been able to stay healthy or find consistency as they are 4-10 in their last 14 games and different reports and rumors have started about the Lakers governor and owner Jeanie Buss and GM Rob Pelinka having big moves like last season at the trade deadline or a big trade for a star.
But now, ESPN's Brian Windhorst has debunked those rumors and reports as he recently stated that the team has faith in the current roster and coach Darvin Ham despite the recent struggles and rumors of the locker room being distant with the head coach.
“The Lakers don’t want to have to make a big move, they prefer to retain their depth and the one last first-rounder they’re allowed to trade...They believe in the formula they have, which is a cadre of long defenders supporting future Hall of Famers," reported Windhorst.
Lakers fans want to see Schröder back as he is reportedly having a bad time with the Toronto Raptors. With information via Michael Grange: "Dennis Schroder reportedly wanted to lead his team and was unhappy about coming off the bench in Toronto before the Immanuel Quickley trade." GM Rob Pelinka could use that discontent to make a trade for Schröder now that the team urgently needs a guard like the German star who in the summer led his National team to win the FIBA World Cup.
