While a change will probably happen, the main solution for most of the LA Laker's problems isn't on making movements at the trade deadline, the main proof is that this team's core, with the starting lineup of D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Jarred Vanderbilt, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis turned the season around and made it to the WCF.

This season, that lineup has seen only 3 minutes, which is outrageous knowing that it became the 7th best starting lineup last year of all the NBA and Ham is refusing to use it in this campaign.

The narrative has been that some moves ahead of the trade deadline will salvage the situation just like last year. But the reality is that no trade saves the Lakers with the current coaching staff.

It was made evident against the Phoenix Suns that the team has no defensive identity. D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura are all struggling here, having issues with Ham's coaching and even being vocal about it. LaVine and Murray will be finding the same issues if arriving in LA. Fans believe Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka need to fire coach Darvin Ham for the team to work out and contend for the title.

D'Angelo Russell admits the team doesn't have it figured out

"I think we're a team, we're still figuring things out. We're still mixing and matching lineups...Last year is a prime example of this team not being where they wanted to be. We got some new energy and some new vibes and it got us to where we ended off last year. You can still see light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to keep getting better," said D'Lo in the post-game presser following the blowout loss to the Suns.
