Despite recently earning a spot in the LA Lakers starting lineup, Rui Hachimura isn't going to be closing games, at least not all of them as coach Ham revealed after the signing of point guard Spencer Dinwiddie who is set to be a key piece for the purple and gold while Gabe Vincent continues to be out.
One of the biggest complaints by the Lakers players has been the constant change in the team rotation, the changing starting lineups, and also the closing ones, Ham will continue to experiment as he wants to use a 3-guard lineup in some game's final moments.
Darvin Ham said that he envisions using Spencer Dinwiddie in three-guard lineups next to D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves. He said he could see the Lakers closing with those lineups at times. This means that Hachimura won't be closing games when the head coach uses the 3-guards lineup alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
The new Lakers guard, Spencer Dinwiddie, said that Rob Pelinka was the first person to call him, and that mattered to him during this process. Spencer had his first practice as a Laker and tonight is set to be his debut against the Pistons.
“I think he compliments them well, he can defend, he can pass, he can dribble, he can shoot.” Darvin Ham speaks on Spencer Dinwiddie’s abilities and playing alongside AD & LeBron.
