Not only Darvin Ham, but the Lakers problem beyond the head coach

Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss could be the Lakers' real problem and not Darvin Ham

There's a reason why the Los Angeles Lakers have shown their support to head coach Darvin Ham despite the recent results on the court and the recent reports suggesting a disconnect between the locker room and the head of the team.

The real problem the is facing isn't the players that arrived in LA in the offseason or only the lack of right adjustments the head coach Darvin Ham has had this campaign, as he hasn't been able to make the best of a deep roster despite the different injuries the team has suffered in the season so far.

The front office led by owner and governor Jeanie Buss, plus the General Manager Rob Pelinka continue to be the main problem with the team despite the moves they made last season in the trade deadline and the job done in the summer.

The Lakers have had six different cores and three different coaches since LeBron James got to Los Angeles in 2018. This blueprint doesn't work in today's high-scoring NBA. That's probably the reason why the organization wants to bet on continuity and is showing its support for Darvin Ham, the problem is that they don't have the right foundation.

Jeanie Buss sent a lengthy text message to Darvin Ham as support

The Athletic's Sam Amick recently reported that: “Unlike the [Frank] Vogel situation, where Buss was known to believe the former coach was largely to blame for the failed integration of Russell Westbrook and ultimately greenlighted his April 2022 firing as a result, all signs point to the Lakers’ most important decision-maker standing by the coach who is in the second year of a four-year deal,” Amick added “There’s a mutual respect in that relationship, one that resulted in Buss sending a lengthy text message of support to Ham in the wake of Thursday’s report in The Athletic that chronicled the rising pressure that surrounds him. Buss could certainly change her stance, of course, but the current state of affairs suggests Ham still has time to turn this around.”
