Following the uneventful trade deadline for the Los Angeles Lakers, the reports had GM Rob Pelinka focus on the buyout market with the guard Spencer Dinwiddie being their main target after the Brooklyn Nets traded him to Toronto and the Raptors bought him out.
While it was looking just to be another empty rumor, like the many that emerged about Dejounte Murray before the NBA's trade deadline that went nowhere, this time around has become true and the guard looks to be very close to becoming the newest Lakers player.
Dinwiddie is set to be a good fit for the team and helpful after PG Gabe Vincent continues to miss games as he has been available only 5 of the entire season. LA can offer 1.5 M while other teams just one million.
The Lakers got to beat the New Orleans Pelicans this Friday night in the second leg of back-to-back games and Spencer Dinwiddie was present at the Lakers-Pelicans contest, sitting with Rob Pelinka in the Lakers' VIP seats. Dinwiddie is 30 years old and averaged 12.6 points and 6.0 assists for BKN this season.
The Lakers beat the Pelicans decidedly, 139-122 on the 2nd night of a b2b. D-Lo 30p 5a; Reaves 27p 4a; LeBron 21p 14a; Rui 21p 5r; AD 20p 6r 6a. LAL tied a franchise record for pts in a Q with 51 in the 2nd and had all five starters score 20 or more.
