Fans were delighted to see the Los Angeles Lakers' performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night as the head coach Darvin Ham finally returned to the starting lineup he had on the opening night of the current 2023-24 season.

But while the game was fun to watch and ended with a win for the purple and gold, not everything is fixed, and changed isn't needed. OKC, like most teams against LA, hunted open threes and mostly got them, but the main difference regarding other rivals is that they missed.

The game left many positives but there's a lot of work that still needs to be done. This Wednesday night the game against the Dallas Mavericks will be a good parameter to see how the team is doing on both ends and what struggles still need to be addressed.

With players like Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Lakers can't concede that many open threes or will truly suffer from them as the purple and gold aren't able to respond in the same matter as the group isn't a shooting team.

The Lakers are doing one game better than last season

It's not much but the Los Angeles Lakers are 20-21 at the midway point of the season, one game better than last season's 19-22 before the now famous moves in the trade deadline. AD had 27 points, 15 rebounds and five assists. LeBron James had 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.
