The Lakers are releasing a 10-part docuseries titled, “Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers,” this monday via hulu. The story will tell everything about the Lakers once the Buss family bought them, including all the drama and rumours that have surround the team for decades. Under the ownership of the Buss family, the Lakers have won 10 championships since 1979, and have had some of the greatest players of all time.

“Everybody that we asked to participate agreed to be interviewed, and everybody gives the experience that they had because the fans know about what took place on the court. But they don’t know what happened behind the scenes, and that’s what we wanted to show is what goes on after the game and the effect that winning has on people, on a family.” said Jeanie Buss to The Athletic regarding the people that appear in the docuseries.

Grading the Los Angeles Lakers offseason moves so far

There's no doubt that the Lakers created this series in order to debunk what was said on the HBO series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.” based on Jeff Pearlman’s book chronicling the rise of the Showtime Lakers. It seems that neither the Lakers front office nor some of the players portrayed in this movie weren't to pleased with it, so they wanted to come out and tell their own story. However as always they'll tell their side of the story probably keeping some things for themselves.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also came out and comment that, “There’s always some stuff out there that’s not accurate, or way off course." about the HBO series.  "This gives me an opportunity to have my say, and be accurate, and hopefully people who watch this film understand it’s the real deal.” added about the ten episode series.

Will the Lakers docuseries change anyone's opinion about the team's history?

Lakers fans, and NBA fans will surely be looking forward to learning more about one of the most storied franchises in sports. Sure as said above, probably not everything will come out to light as there are some thing better not said. However it would e nice to compare both series and take our own conclusions about the real Lakers Story.
