The Los Angeles Lakers front office has been busy working non-stop, as soon as the team got eliminated by Denver in the Western Conference Finals in the 2023 playoffs, GM Rob Pelinka and head coach Darvin Ham started planning the 2023-24 campaign.

Earlier this month, in the middle of all the negotiations and moves, the Lakers governor and owner Jeanie Buss, wedded his long-time boyfriend, comedian, and actor Jay Mohr, surprisingly, in a modest Malibu beachside ceremony.

The couple have been together since 2017. The union marks the second marriage for Buss and the third for Mohr. Buss may now be the owner, but his path with the team came back to the 1979-80 season when his father, Dr. Jerry Buss bought the team.

Buss selected Magic Johnson in that year's NBA Draft and since then, the star and Jeanie Buss have developed a decades-long friendship. Recently some of that was portrayed in the fiction made by HBO and recently cancelled the "Winning Time" show.

The showtime era Lakers legend Magic Johnson's message to Buss

Because of the special occasion, Magic didn't hesitate to send his love and wrote this heartfelt missive to Buss on X, a.k.a. The Social Media Platform Formerly Known As Twitter: "Congratulations to Lakers owner, my sister, and friend Jeanie Buss on her marriage to Jay Mohr! May God bless your union!"
