Many rumors had the LA Lakers pursuing Chris Paul after the news broke that the Suns wanted to trade for or waive him. The 38-year-old PG was immediately linked to the Lakers.
But the newest report by the Lakers insider Jovan Buha has the front office led by GM Rob Pelinka having substantial interest in signing CP3 if the guard is waived or stretched by the Suns.
The problem is that Paul may not want to leave Phoenix and move to Los Angeles. Paul recently confirmed that thought as well, saying that he wants to remain with the Suns going forward, according to Duane Rankin of AZ Central.
"Absolutely," Paul said. "That's why I'm there." This makes it hard for the Lakers, as the PG wants to stay in Phoenix. Still, the front office is watching how the situation develops. "I've talked with my family; we've had conversations about what could be, what might be," Paul said. "I've talked with my agent. Talked to my brother (C.J. Paul)."
Another option the Lakers have discussed is signing Paul and retaining D'Angelo Russell to truly solidify their point guard position, according to Buha's sources.
