The Los Angeles Lakers have found the PG upgrade they were looking for this offseason with one of the biggest free agents currently available.
Because of that, D'Angelo Russell's time with the purple and gold, on his second stint, could end after disappointing the fans and the front office with his performance in the playoffs.
The Nuggets swept the Lakers, and D-Lo wasn't to be found in the four games played vs. Jokic and Denver. Because of that, Pelinka has been looking for an upgrade to replace the PG.
With the recent report of James Harden wanting to opt out of his 35 million player option with the 76ers and becoming a free agent, Pelinka could potentially have Russell's perfect replacement. Still, the GM has said they don't want to sign big names, so we'll have to wait and see how things pan out.
The Lakers went for a guard with their No. 17 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft when they chose Jalen Hood-Schifino. It has been reported that Pelinka and Ham are planning to use him alongside Austin Reaves in the future so that D-Lo could stay for the next campaign, but in the long term, the team sees a Hood-Schifino with Reaves backcourt for the purple and gold.
