The Los Angeles Lakers were one of the team names to be close to the realm of possibility for signing the star Giannis Antetokounmpo in a potential exit from the Bucks.
The other NBA franchise linked to the Milwaukee superstar is the NY Knicks. All of this came after Giannis himself stated on a couple of occasions that he wants to be on a contending team, at the moment doesn't think Milwaukee is that place and could not be signing an extension with them.
A lot has been said, and a couple of clues have hinted at a chance for the Lakers to land Giannis in the future. Antetokounmpo has made some investments in Los Angeles and has said that wants to go for a team that knows how to win, and that's the Lakers.
Now, ESPN's Brian Windhorst is predicting that Giannis Antetokounmpo's next contract will be outside of Milwaukee, which would make the big superstar closer to being part of the Lakers family. This could happen as the retirement of LeBron James approaches and the franchise would need another star alongside Anthony Davis.
LeBron James isn't retiring any time soon, but after this year, he only will have left another year on his contract and it is unknown if he would like to extend with the purple and gold after that, but one thing is certain, we are getting closer to the end of LeBron James era.
