Los Angeles Lakers had a challenging task on Thursday night as they had to play without their best men. Instead, the young talent and rookies had to prove their value, and one that has been hardly criticized has a better game than Timberwolves veteran D'Angelo Russel.
He may not be like his father, Scotty Pippen Jr., but the kid has talent and is eager to show it. Unfortunately, after he was highly overrated by everyone at camp, the fans were disappointed by him in the first two preseason games.
But now, with more minutes, he delivered a good night. Pippen Jr. had 33 minutes of playtime, while Russel had less, with 19 minutes. But Jr. had 4-12 FG, two three-point shots out of 8 attempts, 4 FG out of 7, 1 offensive rebound, three defensive rebounds, and seven assists. In the end, Jr scored 14 points for the night.
While the Timberwolves veteran D'Angelo had 5-12 FG, one out of five 3 point shots attempts, 2 out of 2 free throws with zero offensive rebounds and three defensive rebounds, two assists, and a total of 13 points, one less than Pippen Jr.
It is not being accessible for Scotty, as the shadow that his dad left for him on the NBA is massive, as Pippen Sr. played alongside Michael Jordan and one of the best teams the league has ever seen. Likewise, Scottie was one of the best of the era, and now Jr. has to write a history of his own in one of the NBA's most historic franchises.
