Former Lakers, 7-time NBA Champion and current Spectrum SportsNet Lakers analyst Robert Horry was in attendance at the Ping Pong 4 Purpose charity event hosted by Los Angeles Dodgers star pitcher Clayton Kershaw on Monday night at Dodger Stadium. He was asked about the Los Angeles Clippers chance of winning the Finals. The former power forward didn't hold back and declare that their rivals won't be winning any time soon.
Of course you can't take the statement so serious as ‘Big Shot Rob' is known to have a charismatic personality. Still he took a shot by saying “The Clippers ain’t never gonna win a title, man, what’s wrong with you? Until they put me in the front office or on the coaching staff, they’re gonna have no luck. I’m the best luck you can have.” He added that “they’re just snake bitten” which have some sort of truth as they haven't been real competitive in the past.
This is what the Lakers might offer to trade for Kyrie Irving
Lakers Carmelo Anthony better than Kevin Durant according to this player
The Clippers however have the better part from the rivalry last season winning the four games they faced the Lakers, and have a seven game winning streak. This season it seems history might repeat itself as the Clippers have one if not the best roster in the whole league. True, they came short last season, but led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George they be leading the sporting bets to reach the finals and have a chance to win their first ever championship.
As fun as Horry's statement was, Lakers aren't a team that right now can make jokes. They were for sure the embarrassment of the league last season as they finished eleven in the Western Conference with a pathetic 33-49 record and if they don't land a big trade like Kyrie, they'll be heading for another disappointing season with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in their roster.
The Lakers haven't defeat the Clippers since the 2019-20 season and in the last ten years they have a humiliating record of 9 wins and 32 defeats. Things are trending in the same direction, but as always you can't never write of LeBron James.
