Delmer Harris is a basketball coach getting inducted into the Hall of Fame of basketball after more than 50 years in the game. Harris coached three teams in the NBA, the Houston Rockets from 1979 to 1983, The Milwaukee Bucks from 1987 to 1992.

And his last team as an NBA coach was the Lakers from 1994 to 1999. In his third season as the Laker's Head Coach, the Lakers acquired 18-year-old Kobe Bryant and 24-year-old Shaquille O'Neal. Del Harris was their first coach for those two NBA legends in the purple and gold.

With the Lakers, Del Harris played two times in the conference semifinals and one final. Even though the Lakers, coached by Del Harris, didn't win any championship, it became essential to the development of young stars like Kobe and Shaquille O'Neal.

After five years with the Lakers, they parted ways. However, Del Harris is now recognized for his long career and importance in basketball. Currently, Harris doesn't coach anymore but continues to work in basketball as vice president of the Texas Legends, the NBA G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks.
