The Los Angeles Lakers need all the help they can get; still, coach Darvin Ham has decided to restrain significant minutes for one of his best role players of the 2nd unit.

Wenyen Gabriel has been a revelation for the Lakers this season, quickly becoming the most underrated player on the roster. He has been helping the team when most needed, but for coach Darvin Ham, it is not enough.

When asked about how he divides the playing time between Thomas Bryand and Wenyen Gabriel, coach Ham responded, "They're both interesting players," Ham said. "Thomas had gotten most of those minutes at the five, started for us when AD wasn't available, and had just been playing with a perfect rhythm."

"Wenyen hasn't done anything wrong to remove himself from the rotation, it's just a numbers thing, and you only have so many minutes to give out. So he's doing his job staying ready; his number will be called again, I'm sure, at some point, sometime soon, and I expect for him to play like he had been playing at a high level," said Ham

Gabriel could request his trade to the Lakers' FO

If Ham continues to sit Wenyen Gabriel on the bench, the player could get tired of it and, shortly, could request his trade in the offseason, as the trade deadline is almost here.
