With the NBA being in their offseason and free agency about to officially start tomorrow, the time is running up for teams to make decisions about their players.
The Lakers are prepared to bring back Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura, as they have made them restricted free agents, and even when D'Angelo Russell will be an unrestricted free agent, it has been reported that LA will re-sign him.
But many fans wonder what will happen with players like Malik Beasley and Mo Bamba, who could have helped the team when they needed them the most.
According to The Athletic's Jovan Buha, the Lakers are expected to try to retain UFA's Dennis Schröder and Lonnie Walker IV, meaning Lonnie is a bigger priority than Beasley. Walker IV saved the team against the Warriors, while Malik was disappointed. Beasley would be leaving as the Lakers could not opt for his player option.
With this decision, coach Darvin Ham seemed tired of waiting for Malik Beasley shooting to reappear, as he failed in the regular season and the playoffs. Beasley was a starter to have a coming off-the-bench role, becoming the third Shooting Guard behind Austin Reaves and Lonnie Walker.
