The Los Angeles Lakers were "destroyed" by the 3-pointers made by the Portland Trail Blazers, especially from Damian Lillard, who only in the first half scored 30 points and ended the game with 40.
But according to coach Darvin Ham, even when most of the fans saw the team being humiliated by the 3-pointers of the Trail Blazers, the team had some of the best defenses in the league.
In the post-game presser, coach Ham was asked if he thought the Blazers were getting an abundance of open looks on the game; Darvin Ham says: "We checked the analytical data at halftime. And, according to that data, our defensive shot quality, we would have been #1 in the league."
The rest of the world saw the Lakers' terrible defense during the whole game, especially in the first half. Still, Ham keeps having excuses and gives hope, even when the regular season is not far to be done. Fans want him to be replaced.
There are three viable options for the Lakers front office to replace coach Ham before it is too late. The first one is to return to Frank Vogel, as the team has a better roster, and he gave the team their latest championship title in 2020. The next option is a little controversial but is a proven head coach, the former Boston Celtic's Ime Udoka. And the latest and the one the front office should consider is Quinn Snyder, who should get the best out of the offensive side of the current team.
