The Lakers' current focus is their postseason, starting tonight in the Play-In game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Still, the possibility of the franchise signing the Portland Trail-Blazers star Damian Lillard in the offseason has gone viral.
But are these rumors and reports true? Not entirely, as many headlines are just clickbait, especially on Youtube and Twitter, but Damian Lillard isn't happy with the Blazers but hasn't said he wants to sign with the Purple and Gold.
Do the Lakers want to sign the PG Damian Lillard and his 43 million salary? And the answer seems to be NO, as recent reports suggest the front office and coach Darvin Ham are happy with what D'Angelo Russell is doing with the team and his chemistry with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and have even said they won't pursue Kyrie Irving, so the same can be applied with Lillard.
Still, there's one way that the Lakers could be looking for a new PG; if the team fails miserably in the Play-In or is out in the playoffs' first round, the organization could reconsider this motion once they have evaluated the team as a whole.
Currently, the organization and the coaching staff are happy with the team as it is and are planning on retaining it as much as they can for the next season. Again, it will depend on how the team does in the postseason.
