One of the biggest tasks this offseason for the LA Lakers front office was to find the right backup center for Anthony Davis, and with the free agency market running thin about big men, there was a former Laker in hopes of returning: Wenyen Gabriel.

Gabriel gives his best efforts in every game, but he wasn't able to make a difference with LA in the last season even when he got the opportunity to become a standout.

The purple and gold have now signed Christian Wood and Gabriel had to find another NBA team, to do that, Wenyen went to the FIBA World Cup. Wenyen was a standout and now has found a new team to play with in this season.

Via NBA insider Shams Charania: "Free agent F/C Wenyen Gabriel is finalizing a deal with the Boston Celtics, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Gabriel, who averaged 5.5 PPG and 4.2 RPG for Lakers last season, will compete for a reserve big man spot in Boston."

This is a bittersweet news for the Lakers fans

While some Lakers fans want Wenyen Gabriel to succeed, now that he will be playing for the Celtics, is hard to support the former Lakers as he is now part of the biggest rival in the league for LA.
