The Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is 38 years old but continues to dominate the NBA, not in the same way as in his younger years, but he keeps showing why he is one of the best ever.
Still, greatness also gets LeBron to have some detractors and doubters. Still, James isn't alone on the disrespect he has received from an NBA executive this time, as he is sharing it with the Warriors superstar Stephen Curry.
James and Curry have been two of the NBA's biggest staples for years, creating one of the greatest rivalries in the sport's history, but both players have more seasons behind them than ahead of them. While both future Hall of Famers are still elite, one NBA executive thinks both stars are beyond the point of leading their teams to win NBA titles by themselves.
With information via ESPN: "I think things are cyclical," the executive said to ESPN. "The reality is LeBron is older, so the guy that's driven that for the prior 15 years isn't in the position where he alone can will himself to championships anymore. Same with Steph."
James and Curry may not be able to carry teams to championships any longer, but they can certainly get the job done with some help. Luckily for both players, their teams have assembled solid supporting casts to help them reach the promised land once again. In the case of LeBron and the Lakers, since 2020, Anthony Davis has been expected to take the lead in helping the team win the most anticipated 18th championship title for the purple and gold franchise.
