This summer, the Lakers front office led by GM Rob Pelinka has the task of building upon the current roster that became a Western Conference Finalist with a couple of players that can strengthen the rough spots of the team.
One position in particular that the team is looking to upgrade is the Point Guard; even when D'Angelo Russell helped the team after the trade deadline to turn things around, his performance in the playoffs was lacking, so the team wants to improve from that.
And after the news of the Suns wanting to trade or waive Chris Paul, the purple and gold have been interested in signing the PG star.
But to do that, LA is only interested in signing CP3 if the Suns waive the star and sign with the Lakers for the vet minimum for at least two years, which would be around 5.4 million.
The plan A the Lakers have, according to information via the Lakers insider Jovan Buha, is that Pelinka wants to re-sign D'Angelo Russell in a two-year contract and sign Chris Paul on a vet minimum to strengthen the position with Dennis Schrôder as a backup option.
