The Los Angeles Lakers had in 2022 one of their worst offseasons, as they not only weren't able to find a trade for Russell Westbrook, but the rest of their signings were far from spectacular.
One of the most underrated names earned himself a spot thanks to his shooting, at least for the beginning of the season, as Matt Ryan was a notable 3-point shooter, something the team was lacking.
While his stint was short it became memorable for the Lakers fans, and kind of a fan favorite, as the team had one of their worst season starts, but Ryan was able to help the group with a buzzer-beater 3-pointer in a game against the New Orlean Pelicans, sending the game to overtime for LA eventually winning the game to have a 2-10 record in the first 12 games.
Shortly, the Lakers waived the player, who was able to find this offseason a spot with the Minnesota Timberwolves only to be waived last week, but now, the New Orleans Pelicans seem to have not forgotten about the 3-pointer as they have just signed the shooter.
With information via NBA insider Shams Charania: "The New Orleans Pelicans are acquiring G/F Matt Ryan on a two-way contract off waivers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Ryan – 38.1 percent from 3-point range in 35 games last year – provides a wing shooter for Pelicans, who start the season minus Trey Murphy and Naji Marshall."
