Before the Lakers signed Christian Wood, another name was held as an option for the center role, now signed with the GSW

The Los Angeles Lakers were actively looking to add a big man for their backup center role. GM Rob Pelinka was able to land Christian Wood after a lot of rumors and speculation.

Another name that was between the team's options to sign was the Spanish big man Usman Garuba, but now he is no longer an option to use the last spot available in the roster.

With information via Shams Charania: "Free agent center Usman Garuba has agreed to a two-way NBA contract with the Golden State Warriors, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater. The former Rockets first-round pick is coming off averaging 8.2 points and 4 rebounds for Spain in the FIBA World Cup."

The Los Angeles Lakers now will have two backup centers for Anthony Davis and the 15th roster spot could be used with any other position or still for a center.

Many free-agent centers were waiting on the Lakers-Wood situation

After the Los Angeles Lakers signed Christian Wood, many other free agent centers have found new deals in other teams, showing they were waiting on the Lakers-Wood situation. Tristan Thompson signed a deal to return with the Cavs and now Garuba signed a deal with the GSW.
