Austin Reaves has been one of the sensations in Team USA now that they have started training camp ahead of their soon participation in the FIBA World Cup.
But not everyone is exactly happy with Reaves' participation with Team USA, as there's a current NBA superstar that believes he should've been called instead.
While Trae Young didn't say he should've been in Austin Reaves' place, it has been rumored that Steve Kerr and the Team USA organization preferred the Lakers guard over the Hawks player.
Young has opened up about wanting to be part of this Team USA and doesn't understand why he isn't in it. "Obviously, I definitely want to... It’s up to them if they want me to... I respect the OGs and understand that you got to take your term but I believe that I should be on."
“Just feel, vision, awareness, and understanding of the game,” said Kerr of what makes Reaves a “connector.” “The ball just goes to the right spot, the right cut is made. Austin made a play yesterday where he made a drive and kick; he was kind of behind the defense, and he worked completely behind the defense, flashed kind of in the middle of the paint, caught it and swung it through. He had feel; you have to have awareness to make a play like that. So connectors are guys who make those types of plays, and the game just makes sense, and you end up getting open shots.”
