The LA Lakers' new strategy is paying off, as GM Rob Pelinka is repeating what he did in the past trade deadline, this time in the free agency market.
Instead of going all-in for one big star, the team is going with efficacy and at a reasonable price to keep their cap space for future signings. So far, in a day and a half since the free agency market started, Pelinka has signed six players, including the re-signings of Rui Hachimura and D'Angelo Russell.
The Lakers Nation is content and hopeful that Pelinka cooking some good signings to build on what the team accomplished last season can give the Lakers a new NBA championship title.
But not only the fans but also ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins has given his opinion on how Pelinka is winning this free agency: "Rob Pelinka is doing his thing right now and the Lakers... they are winning in this free agency."
Instead of going all-in with one big star, as they did in the 2021-22 season with the trade for Russell Westbrook, the team is betting on youth and depth to build a good team around Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
