There have been many golden opportunities this offseason, even when it's just starting, and while every team is getting stronger, the Lakers squad is trying to keep their current roster with minor changes.

One of the best opportunities that have come out this summer is the Suns wanting to trade Chris Paul, and now that he landed with the Washington Wizards, they want to trade for him; the problem is, the Lakers want Chris Paul, but there's a catch.

The purple and gold plan A for this offseason is to re-sign Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura and to bring CP3, but for the veteran minimum, which is probably set to fail by owner Jeanie Buss.

The Clippers are also interested in Paul, so that they will offer more; it seems the Lakers aren't trying. According to the Los Angeles Times' Andrew Greif, Broderick Turner, and Dan Woike: "The Lakers for sure would have interest in acquiring Chris Paul, but only for the veteran minimum."

The Lakers Plan A this Offseason

NBA insider Marc Stein said, "It is feasible to some unknown degree that the Lakers could elect to amend their plans and decide, in the end, that they do want to pursue Irving this summer. But that would be a dramatic departure from the Lakers' current Plan A, which calls for re-signing free agents Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura and trying to sign Chris Paul as a free agent should Paul make it to the open market in the wake of his inclusion in the Beal-to-Phoenix trade.”
