This season was an exciting road for Lonnie Walker, as the SG began the campaign as a starting player in the lineup for coach Darvin Ham until he got injured and was out.
Then the movements in the trade deadline happened, and Malik Beasley almost immediately took the starting role for Ham's "new" Lakers. Suddenly both SGs 'lost' their positions to Austin Reaves, who ended the regular season and all-postseason run as the SG starter for the team.
But in Game 4 of the series' second round vs. the Golden State Warriors, Lonnie Walker had a coming-off-the-bench role to help the team win and stole Beasley being the 2nd unit Shooting Guard for the rest of the playoffs.
After what Walker showed in the postseason, the front team office led by GM Rob Pelinka and head coach Darvin Ham wants to re-sign Lonnie as he is hitting free agency and will command a deal for about 7 million per year.
Lonnie Walker himself is the one that can stop the re-signing from happening, as he is looking to have a more prominent role in another team but could choose to stay if Pelinka and Ham guarantee him more playing time.
