The Los Angeles Lakers have a challenging task this season, to improve their current roster and to fix the issues they have this season; for that, they need an upgrade from what D'Angelo Russell did as a PG and also need a star that can improve the team's 3-point shooting.
Right after the Lakers were swept by the Nuggets and the season ended for the Purple and Gold, one of the biggest targets of the summer for LA was revealed, the Hawks superstar Trae Young.
But now, according to a recent report by Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, it isn't surprising that Atlanta keeps Young and explores its options regarding moving Dejounte Murray. The Lakers could be paying around 18 million annually per Murray.
Although LA is one of four teams linked to a trade for Young, Murray is the better all-around player. The Lakers explored a deal for Murray back when he was with the San Antonio Spurs, and his defensive mindset would fit perfectly with the way Anthony Davis patrols the rim. Offensively he isn't the smoothest fit on a Lakers team that has struggled to score in the past, but his age makes him a potentially perfect Davis running mate for a post-LeBron James future.
If the Lakers choose to upgrade their PG position, Dennis Schroder and D'Angelo Russell could be entering a battle to see who stays in LA to become the backup Guard for coach Darvin Ham.
