The Los Angeles Lakers have one of the richest histories in the NBA, and a lot has to do with Dr. Jerry Buss since buying the team, building a winning tradition, and creating what is now known as the Showtime Lakers.
But ever since passing away, the team hasn't been the same, and now that his daughter Jeanie Buss has taken the reigns of it, it has been a long time since the Lakers have had a championship-winning streak. Under her control, the Lakers have only won the 2020 championship in the middle of the COVID era.
For the fandom, that isn't enough. Buss having the GM Rob Pelinka has yet to satisfy the fans as both have made some uninspired and strange decisions; it seems that they have been focusing on making more money and not on winning championships until now.
This season, Buss and Pelinka finally made some trades that look to improve the team and give them a chance to make it to the playoffs, even when they have struggled most of the campaign and currently sit in the 13th seed.
Before the Lakers made the trades and strengthened the team's roster, Jeanie had to endure dislike comments by the fans, but one took it too far. The Twitter user 'LeBronchitis' wrote to say thank you to Jeanie after she and Pelinka made the necessary trades. The Lakers owner answered that he was unsure of how he could send a private message to her and asked if the hacker that once hacked her was. Still, she shares that the user previously had sent her a distasteful message as 'LeBronchitis' once wrote: "I hope you know you're the worst owner in sports if you don't get a trade done before this season is unsalvageable."
