Recently, the Brooklyn Nets Ben Simmons was a guest on a podcast when he opened up about having struggled with mental health and then been criticized by the Los Angeles Lakers Icon Shaquille O'Neal.
Simmons reached out to Shaq and wrote him through DM's, O'Neal later talked about it and exposed those DM's, so Ben spoke about it and attacked Shaq for not understanding. Naturally, this didn't sit well with fans who have now been shooting O'Neal, who recently stroked back, clearing things up on his podcast:
"Listen, if you're greater, you can't be a hater; let's get that straight right now. First of all, as i said, I'm just talking about what I see as a player, and I'm talking about what you have to do to get to that next level. If you don't like what I say, that ain't my problem." So said Shaquille about the matter.
"First of all, it's never a personal attack on you. I say what I saw. I saw in his eyes, he was scared and guess what? Everybody goes through struggles. We all do. But this is the game we play. This is the life we live. You're going to take criticism. They pay us a lot of money, somehow you have to deal with it." Conclude O'Neal on his podcast to put an end to the subject.
Los Angeles Lakers Icon Shaquille also had a hard time struggling with critics. In 1996, Shaq joined the Lakers, and the critics attacked his inability to lead them to an NBA title. After winning three titles at the beginning of the 2000's decade, Shaque shut the critics forever.
