The Los Angeles Lakers just traded away Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson to the Utah Jazz in exchange for former All-defensive player Patrick Beverley. The Twitter reactions didn't wait to appear and even the arguably greatest player in Lakers history, Magic Johnson, had something to say throughout his social media.
Patrick Beverley is not the all-star player that every player wanted. He's not even an offensive weapon that the team could benefit from bringing, as he has averaged 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists during his ten seasons in the NBA. Still, his defensive skills might help the team to get out of the bottom ten in defensive efficiency.
Anthony Davis have to improve in this category to help the team
The Lakers cannot win a championship with their current roster
Now Magic uses his social media to show how happy he is after the new trade from his former team. The all-star NBA player argued that he used to hate the player because he used to give the players many problems, but now he loves seeing him wearing the Lakers jersey. He also believes that the Lakers will return to the playoffs with Beverley on the roster.
The Lakers still need to make moves after trading for Beverley as the roster still has some issues to be addressed. Still, signing the former Timberwolves player is a start that they are going in the right direction. Now they need an offensive player to go along with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The Lakers finally made a move after being really quiet during this offseason. Still, they haven't moved Russell Westbrook, which was a must after the end of last season, and their offense is still the same. Those two things should be addressed before the start of the season.
