The Minnesota Timberwolves young star Anthony Edwards made some homophobic remarks to later issued an apology. But the Los Angeles legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has some strong words for the young player.
Kareem offered his thoughts on the subject matter, noting that comments like the one Edwards made are nothing new, but nowadays, an apology is no longer enough, and the player should do something about it.
"It would be easy to dismiss Edwards' immaturity, he's only 21, if not because we've seen so many cases of famous athletes and owners in the news spouting racism, misogyny, and anti- LGBTQ+ sentiments. This damages sports Timberwolves and their teams revive the old stereotype of the dumb, bullying jock". Said Abdul-Jabbar.
"Edwards needs to repair the damage with some voluntary community service with LGBTQ+ organizations, particularly youth groups, to show his support. If he can't do that much to undo the harm he's caused, then his apology is meaningless," Conclude the Lakers icon, Kareem. Anthony hasn't responded to Abdul-Jabbar's comments at the moment.
Kareem and other Showtime Lakers reunited in Maui, Hawaii.
The Los Angeles Lakers Showtime era made history in the NBA, winning several championships while changing the league forever. However, since 1989 they haven't practiced together until a few days ago; they had a reunion in Maui, Hawaii, and practiced one more time, including HC Pat Riley and Lakers icon Magic Johnson.
