LeBron James' 20M investment, including a Starbucks to help Akron's community

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is now a billionaire. Still, he remembers his hometown and community, as he has invested more than 20M in the James foundation.

The foundation bought House 330 to have an expansive community space that provides I PROMISE families with job training and mentorship while serving the entire community and beyond with world-class dining, retail, arts, and entertainment offerings.

This includes a unique kind of Starbucks that recently opened its doors. From The Athletic's Joe Vardon: "The 46 people who work there are all being paid an hourly salary, but on top of the money are earning valuable job-training certificates for the hospitality industry."

"They all will be trained in every facet of every business at House Three Thirty, from event planning to food service (a fancy test kitchen in the basement sponsored by Pepsi, another of LeBron's partners), to janitorial work. They get paid and they get the training credits." Wrote Vardon. None of the other nearly 33,000 Starbucks on Earth are like this one in Akron.

The Lakers forward recently posted on his Twitter account that he will be saying goodbye to his blue check mark as he isn't willing to pay the monthly five dollars that will cost to have the logo beside the named account.
