Right after the Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets a guard's name was immediately linked to LA, but it never came to fruition

The moment the Los Angeles Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets and eliminated from the 2023 playoffs, the rumors were fast to come in of the organization thinking of signing Kyrie Irving to reunite him in LA with LeBron James.

While James is indeed interested in reuniting with Kyrie, the organization didn't have Kyrie Irving as a target this offseason, even when the Mavs star became a free agent.

Kyrie decided to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks, while the Lakers had another offseason move in mind, bringing talented players but not superstars to the team.

Now that the NBA pre-season has started, Kyrie Irving's first numbers aren't great at all, showing the Lakers skipped a bullet by not going after the superstar, instead, staying with Austin Reaves, D'Angelo Russell, and signing Gabe Vincent.

Kyrie Irving on his NBA preseason debut

Kyrie Irving scored two points, had one rebound, two assists, and shot 16.7% FG and 0/2 from 3. In the plus/minus had a -22, which shows that even when is the preseason, Irving isn't willing to bring his A-game, unlike the current Lakers ' player training camp roster that is giving his best even at practice.
