By James Brown
On Tuesday, February 7, the Los Angeles Lakers saw their superstar LeBron James make history by passing the showtime era legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar's scoring record.
LeBron was celebrated on Tuesday and even Thursday night, but now the Los Angeles Lakers also honor the showtime era legend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The Lakers franchise has kindly given away to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the 38th anniversary of his NBA scoring record. The legendary center has received a ring made up of 578 diamonds. It is very similar to the ones usually awarded to the champions of the American major leagues.
The ring is set to be worth north of $150,000. The front of the ring reflects the mythical silhouette of Abdul-Jabbar performing one of his famous hooks. The side highlights the 38,387 points he scored during his career and the date he broke the record previously held by Wilt Chamberlain (April 5, 1984).
Not everything is good news for the Lakers, as the superstar LeBron James has been out since passing the scoring record due to an ankle injury. He has now missed three games; the latest one was a loss for the team.
