Even when the Lakers Nation didn't like much of the coaching work Darvin Ham did on his first year as the head coach of an NBA franchise, the reality is that Ham turned a 2-10 record around and made it into the WCF Finals.

Coach Ham had the usual first-time head coach mistakes, but overall his job was positive thanks to being a player's kind of coach, and the SG Lonnie Walker has spoken about it.

Coach Darvin Ham needs to play with size

One of the main criticisms coach Ham got is that he often played with small 3-guard lineups against big teams, and the most recent one was against the Nuggets, where the Lakers got swept.
