The Lakers and the Clippers are city rivals, but the reality is that the purple and gold have a clear superiority over their neighbor. Not only the Lakers are way more popular but also they have a large winning history and several Hall of Famers as part of the franchise, unlike the Clippers that are still away from winning their first championship title.
The Clippers star recently spoke about how it feels to share the city with the Lakers team, showing the greatness of the purple and gold franchise, as he believes even workers at the Crypto.com Arena have a preference for the Lakers over the Clippers.
“At Crypto[.com Arena], we share the space there, it’s a weird dynamic. I was telling them we’ll go in the weight room and Bron got his shit, we don’t touch his shit, logo’d out. It feels like we’re the little bros over there, they treat us differently. The [Lakers’] shit is like upscale, so it’s just a weird dynamic, it’s a Lakers town. It’s funny to me like if I’m somewhere and they like ‘aww you should be a Laker’ or ‘come to L.A.’ and I’m like bro what?” Said Paul George.
Despite the Clippers beating the Lakers the last 11 times, the latter is still seen as the superior team in L.A., as they should be due to championship history. But, the Lakers are still in search of breaking that losing streak heading into next season and there’s no doubt the Clippers will be hungry to finally get over the hump.
The former Lakers PG Patrick Beverley had a past with the Clippers and started last season being a Laker, when asked about the difference, he said that it was a day and night difference, choosing the purple and gold over the Clips.
