Many fans wanted coach Darvin Ham to trust Max Christie and give him some minutes of playing time this season, but when the sophomore got the opportunity he wasted it as he was disappointed, until this Thursday night against the Charlotte Hornets as the guard had a career-high performance.
The only other Laker that was able to block a player from the Charlotte Hornets after Anthony Davis was the young guard Max Christie and he did it twice, something he did for the first time since making it to the NBA.
Max Christie, who hadn't played rotation minutes since the second Spurs game on Dec. 15, had an impressive first-half stint knocking down a corner 3 and blocking two shots. The Lakers were +7 in his eight minutes (a team-best mark so far).
Thanks to the blowout win, many Lakers players were able to get more playing time than they were used to. Max Christie played a total of 24 minutes and ended with 10 scored points, 3/4 FG, 2/3 from 3, 2/2 FT, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks with a +18 in the plus/minus.
Unlike previous wins, the group had a team effort and besides Anthony Davis and LeBron James being the two best players on the team, the whole group had a great night and not only a couple of standouts. Seven players scored in double digits to get the 133-112 win over Charlotte.
