The debate for the greatest basketball player of all time has been a never-ending one. Many people have narrowed the debate to only two players, Michael Jordan and LeBron James. However, for NBA legend Julius Erving, neither of the two players should be considered as the ‘Greatest Of All Time’. For the former Sixers player, the ‘GOAT’ was another Lakers player.
Julius Erving believes that the all-time scorer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the greatest player in NBA history. “I think it’s the fans' argument, not the players' argument. So I stay away from it. My all time greatest player is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,” explained Dr. J.

Still, the former MVP explained that LeBron James might end up being the best player of all time, by surpassing Kareem's scoring record. Not only that, but it seems that the ‘King’ might end up playing for a couple more years, which means he will continue increasing his stats.
“People always make comparisons to people who are done. LeBron may play another six years. LeBron may play one year. We don’t really know... It’s very subjective,” explained the former sixers player via Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Bally Sports Network.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played 20 seasons for the Lakers and Bucks. He averaged 24.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.6 blocks during his career. He was selected to play in 19 All-Star games. He also won 6 MVP awards and 6 NBA championships with 2 Finals MVPs.
