The biggest narrative this offseason for the LA Lakers after singing Anthony Davis a three-year and 186 million extension has been the star becoming the face of the team, as the organization seems to plan to move away from LeBron.
Not that LA wants to get rid of James, as they want the superstar to retire from the NBA as a purple and gold player, but they know that at 39 years old, they can't rely solely on him anymore and could retire when he wants to.
Because of that, Ham has decided to limit playing time for LeBron and make Anthony Davis the carrier of the heavy load, but if the opening night is any parameter, it was the wrong move.
Now, Fox Sports NBA analyst Nick Wright is exploring the idea of LA trading Anthony Davis for the latest MVP, the superstar Joel Embiid: "I was watching the second half of this game, and I was like, 'I mean, (Anthony Davis) for Joel Embiid?'"
It is too early to judge AD and the Lakers after game one, especially with eight new players. The team needs time to settle in, once that happens, the purple and gold will be on track to become a favorite team to win it all.
