The Lakers may have lost, but Cam Reddish's absence was well covered by the team's sophomore

This past Wednesday, the Los Angeles Lakers lost against the Dallas Mavericks in what became a close game that the purple and gold almost had but lost at the last minute.

The team has had many absences and to make things worse, Cam Reddish got hurt on the first leg of this week's back-to-back games in Los Angeles. Cam wasn't able to recover and sat out of Wednesday night's game against the Mavs.

Max Christie got the opportunity and became the team's starter in Reddish absence and over Austin Reaves for the first time in the season. Christie, in 23, struggled to get things going joining the starting five. He finished with seven points on 3 for 7 from the field and was a game-low minus-29, however, Davis is not phased by the difficulties in his first start of the season and spoke highly of the young guard.

“Versatility, he can shoot the basketball, play off the dribble, can defend. He looked really good in his first start. There are some things that we can clean up as a group and individually but I think for Max, he did a good job. Throwing him in the fire and having to guard great players in Luka and Kyrie, it’s a team effort on the defensive end, but his one-on-one individual effort, he did a great job.” Said AD about Max Christie first game as a starter.

Max Christie is learning from AD & LeBron James

One of the many things that Davis and James have been great at during their time leading the Lakers is their ability to encourage and get the most out of younger players. They helped Austin Reaves become a regular rotation player in his rookie season, and could potentially do the same with Christie as the year goes on.
