Patrick Beverley vs Russell Westbrook let bygones be bygones

Patrick Beverley is ready to let the past go and start working alongside Russell Westbrook.

By James Brown

Patrick Beverley is ready to let the past go and start working alongside Russell Westbrook.

The Lakers just traded for all-NBA defensive player Patrick Beverley to upgrade the team. The Purple and Gold had to send two young players in Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson, in exchange for the 34-year-old veteran. This was a smart move by the Lakers as they had one of the worst defenses in the NBA last season.

The only downside of Patrick Beverley's trade is that he and Russell Westbrook have had a beef with each other for almost nine years now. Last year they went into a Twitter fight that makes us believe that there's no way both players can play in the same team. But some reports argue that they are ready to let the past go in the past.

The Lakers should consider doing this if they can't trade Russell Westbrook

Anthony Davis could be part of the Lakers' next trade

According to Marc Stein, “Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley have already been in contact since becoming Lakers teammates, league sources tell me, and new coach Darvin Ham has told them he has lineups in mind to play Russ and PatBev side-by-side.” Now Patrick Beverley answers to the comments via Twitter.

It seems that the once sworn enemies are ready to work together as teammates. Still, there's a lot that has to be solved before the start of the season. The Lakers are trying to trade Russell Westbrook in exchange for one or two players that can improve the team right away.

Can the Lakers pair Beverley and Westbrook?

The only way to have Beverley and Westbrook playing together is if they are ready to let the past go. However, the Lakers still want to trade Russell, so it's all about if the Lakers want Russell on their team or not.
